Documentary Project

I wanted to tell a story about my small Korean church in Tucson. Many people around me seemed to have certain prejudice against churches strongly associating them with political agendas and commercial means. Therefore, this project came to me a great opportunity to undermine some of the negative ideas of churches in general by investigating what really goes on in my church. Specifically, I wanted to deliver a message as to how a small ethnic church in Tucson is in fact a center where racial unity is happening. Furthermore, I wanted to capture the humbleness of those people by taking some of the pictures behind them instead of making them like profile pictures.  Also, I wanted to express sense of warmth by using slight overexposure. These people come together from different backgrounds and create their own community to pursue their religious purpose. I was hoping these pictures would affect those who previously had some hostile ideas about churches, so that they can be more open-minded.
